Scenarisation

The scenarisation technique is aimed at undertaking the transformation of the territory through an active consideration of the time and rhythms which may structure it. This project method, originally conceived with the Acadie cooperative (Daniel Béhar, Martin Vaner) as part of the Atelier International du Grand Paris, seeks to examine the different states of a place over time, precisely where traditional planning would only define the most remote state as an ultimate and ideal objective to be achieved. The scripting is, conversely, presented like a process, which considers the temporal depth of a territory and puts its many different time-frames and the vagaries of the context at the heart of the project’s preparation. This approach is informed by anticipatory methods using narrative, and borrows from the techniques used by TV series scriptwriters who, based on an initial document setting the basis of an overall narrative, are capable of expressing it over several seasons, which are at once autonomous, interdependent, and written by several people.
